A Remarkable ComebackDavey has a very strong desire and determination to once again race in the Indianapolis 500 after his devastating crash in which he nearly lost his legs and feet at Texas Motor Speedway June 9, 2001. After 21 operations and two years of rehabilitation he is now back in racing condition. Since 2003 Davey has been the preferred driver of the Indy Racing Experience, a two-seater style Indy Car in which fans can take rides in at various tracks throughout the United States. “I have really enjoyed the two-seater and every time I get in the car I think about how good it feels and how comfortable I am behind the wheel. With every lap I feel more and more like I’m ready to make my return to Indy Car competition”, states Davey. In the fall of 2004 the Indy Racing League medical staff gave Davey their approval to return to Indy Car Racing. Davey has rekindled that desire and is more motivated than ever to return to the Indianapolis 500. “I will do anything I can to race at Indy in the near future. I continue to train harder and am putting myself in the best physical shape of my life, because the most important race in the world is the Indianapolis 500 and I want to be one of the thirty-three drivers to compete in the ‘Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” Davey's drive and determination paid off on May 5th 2007 when Vision Racing announced it had signed Davey on as one of their drivers to compete in the 91st Indianapolis 500. In addition to Davey’s remarkable comeback in Indy Racing he is President of Davey Hamilton Racing. |
